How It’s Done: Production of Publications

The journey of any publication from the printing process to the final use is a fairly long process that involves many incremental steps leading to a perfect result. We'll show you what this process looks like in our corporate presentations that we equip our sales departments with, and which are an important source of information about LOGIK, s.r.o for our customers.

1. Data preparation

The first step is to have the correct data. We created the text and graphics for corporate presentations internally using our graphic studio. We offer these services to our customers, which assure them that their printed materials are not only engaging, but also in the correct format for printing technology according to the specific requirements of each implementation.

2. Journey to the plate

Before any printed material reaches the printing machines, it heads to the CtP department to check the accuracy of data and for mounting, where individual orders intended for the same material are mounted according to the printer on sheet B1 or B0+ for the most efficient use of the sheet (to leave as little blank space as possible) and to make our customer's costs as low as possible. The sheet is then illuminated on the printing plates, the number of which corresponds to the number of colors used for each printed material composing the motif.

3. Print

The printing process in LOGIK takes place on the modern offset machines Heidelberg Speedmaster CD102; there are three units installed in the Vysočany premises for four-color, five-color and six-color printing with coating units. In the second factory in Horní Počernice we have a KBA Rapida 164 printer with a B0+ print format. All four machines have a capacity of approximately 15,000 sheets per hour, ensuring the rapid dispatch of any order.

4. Finishing

For the front page of the main presentation of LOGIK we selected a velvet imitation film surface finish. Lamination is applied to the printed paper. There are many kinds of lamination, enabling us to give each publication a unique look.

5. 3D varnish

3D varnish allows us to create additional effects in virtually any form, which gives the brochure or publication its own unique face. In our case we used a motif consisting of three stripes referring to our company's tricolor. Imagination has no limits, and partial painting by this method depends solely on the skill of those preparing the data.

6. Formatting

The brochure pages are then formatted according to crop marks, neatened and sorted according to individual sheets so that they are ready for the final binding treatment.

7. Binding

LOGIK presentations are bound with two metal staples using V1 binding, which is suitable for publications with fewer pages. V2 binding is preferable for 40 pages and more. Both types of binding look more professional on corporate publications than conventional plastic coil binding. And that is what's most important. The collating line gradually adds the sheets to complete the brochure, and then finally places the staple where it belongs.

8. Exclusive packaging

In addition to the printing methods themselves, each publication can be elevated in other ways. For a complete set of individual corporate publications in a single size and design, we've prepared an exclusive box for businesses, in the color gray. The surface treatment, as in the presentation itself, is a velvet lamination, with a partial surface coating containing our company logo. The box has a compartment for the printed publications and a flash drive, so that the customer can also receive the presentation electronically and read the version that suits him best.
